As more states legalize marijuana, local planners tackle land-use and zoning challenges to make the new industry work for their community. There are many uncertainties and misconceptions regarding the legalization of Medical Marijuana in the state of Missouri. The classification of different facility types can fall under many zoning categories. Is this an industrial, manufacturing or retail activity and how does it affect the urban landscape? Councilman Brian Myers and City Planner Nic Hutchison from the City of St. Joseph will be joined by the Director of Research and Development for United American Hemp, Michael Wilson, to provide clarification, insight and real world experience as leaders in this field.
