Affordable housing policies had a significant role in recent local elections and continues to be a challenge for planners and city officials. Dr. Clara Irazabal (UMKC) will present an international case study providing insight on housing challenges in Venezuela and share a different perspective on the affordable housing crisis and social struggles. The presentation will include a case study of the Venezuelan Gran Housing Mission (Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela), which has been responsible for massive construction of social housing in central areas of Caracas, Venezuela. Join Dr. Irazabel to explore planning techniques and a greater understanding of potential affordable housing policies.
