The Kansas City Section of the American Planning Association (KCAPA) has invited Michael Wells, MVSC Collections Librarian with the Kansas City Public Library, to present his research and curated exhibit City of Tomorrow: Kansas City's Postwar Urban Renewal. He will discuss how efforts in Kansas City to combat blight and "renew" the city through redevelopment took off after World War II; and his presentation will look at before-and-after photographs, maps and other documents to examine the origin and implementation of urban renewal and its long-term, segregative effects on the city. Following the presentation, Michael will field questions from the audience related to his presentation.
