Complete streets have gained substantial currency and support around the Kansas City region in recent years. Strong local and regional policies helped fuel a variety of implementation-focused projects and plans. In 2015, the regional Complete Streets policy was updated to include green streets. This workshop will highlight case studies from Chicago - a longtime national leader in the realm of green and complete streets - and how these principles are being implemented at a neighborhood scale in Detroit. Our speaker, Janet Attarian, will share some of the implementation strategies, innovative planning and design applications, and lessons learned that may inform our region's application of complete street concepts. A local panel will respond to the initial presentation ? highlighting opportunities, challenges and lessons learned. AICP CM: 2.0
